FILM: “From the Ground Up: Healing Our Planet, Healing Ourselves”

Almost 62% of California’s open space is privately-owned rangeland.

These are the places where wildlife live, where clean water flowers, where carbon is sequestered. And these lands are stewarded by ranchers.

Go West Media was honored to help with this short film on the resiliency and importance of California rangelands for California Rangeland Trust.

Well-stewarded working landscapes restore the earth, and they are stewarded by ranchers.

California Rangeland Trust is the largest land trust in the state of California. Founded by ranchers, for ranchers, the organization has helped conserve 370,000 acres of working rangeland since its founding.

Through wildfires and drought, California’s rangelands are resilient. These lands have the power to heal our planet, and to heal us as people. Our short film features a rancher who sponsors a PTSD recovery program for veterans on his land, and the daughter of a Humboldt County rancher who overcome incredible odds to conserve her family ranch. We interview a UC Berkeley scientist, Dr. Lynn Huntsinger, whose new study quantified for the first time the enormous economic value of conserving California ranchland. Rangeland Trust CEO Michael Delbar brings this message home by sharing what he learned following a devastating wildfire on his family’s land in 2018.
